MANGO Retail DJ Booth & Custom Counter | Retail Event Fabrication

For an event inside the MANGO retail store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Chicago Fabrications created a custom DJ booth and coordinating counter designed to integrate naturally into the existing retail environment.

Rather than introducing a large activation that would compete with the store itself, the fabricated pieces provided a clean, functional setup for the event while maintaining the modern aesthetic of the space.

Custom DJ Booth for an In-Store Event

The centerpiece of the setup was a custom DJ booth fabricated specifically for the retail event. Finished in a bold blue, the booth created a strong contrast against the store's neutral interior while giving the DJ equipment a clean, dedicated location within the sales floor.

The simple architectural form kept the setup polished and contemporary, allowing it to function as an event element without overwhelming the surrounding merchandise and retail displays.

Illuminated MANGO Branding

A prominent feature on the front of the DJ booth was the illuminated MANGO sign, adding another layer of visibility to the setup. The lighting transformed the otherwise minimal booth into a branded focal point within the store while keeping the overall design clean.

This type of integrated branding works particularly well for retail events where available space is limited and each fabricated element needs to serve both a functional and visual purpose.

Custom Counter

In addition to the DJ booth, Chicago Fabrications produced a custom counter for the event. The counter was designed to coordinate with the overall setup, giving the client another functional event surface while maintaining a consistent appearance within the space. Fabricating both pieces together allowed the proportions, finishes, and overall design language to remain cohesive.

Fabrication for an Existing Retail Environment

In-store activations require a different approach than building inside an empty event venue. Custom elements need to work around existing merchandise, fixtures, circulation paths, and the overall store design while still creating enough visual presence to distinguish the event from normal retail operations.

For the MANGO project, the clean forms and compact footprint allowed the fabricated elements to fit naturally into the existing store while creating a dedicated area for the event.
